Evening Run to Uffington in the Dark
Pontesbury · A488 ‘The road to Hook-a-Gate was quiet, just me and the tarmac’
Graham rides from Pontesbury to Uffington and back on the Honda CB1000GT
The Route
Pontesbury – Uffington – Pontesbury
A488, A5, A458, A49
26 miles (42.0 km)
~41m riding
I left Pontesbury on the A488, passing Plealey without a glance. The road to Hook-a-Gate was quiet, just me and the tarmac. No drama, just the engine humming its usual tune.
The A5 took me past Bayston Hill and into Shrewsbury. It was a straight shot, mostly. I let the bike do the work while I watched the trees blur past. Simple, clean riding.
Leaving Shrewsbury, the A458 wound through Atcham toward Upton Magna. A few overtakes here and there, nothing to write home about. I kept my head down and my hands steady on the bars.
Uffington arrived as the light failed. I parked, walked to the Corbett for a few hours, and headed back in the dark. The A49 out past Berrington was dark and fast. A good evening, all things considered.
