A crisp New Year ride on the Honda Africa Twin — the full loop: out from Pontesbury to Aberdovey via Welshpool, Llanfair Caereinion and Machynlleth, up the coast to Dolgellau, then the long way home through Bala, Knockin and Shrewsbury. Pontesbury → Aberdovey → home

West out of Pontesbury to Welshpool, the B4404 through Llanfair Caereinion to Mallwyd, then the A487 past Machynlleth to Aberdovey on the Dyfi estuary. Up the Cambrian coast through Tywyn to Dolgellau under Cadair Idris — then the long way home: Bala, the B4391/B4396 past Knockin, Nesscliffe and Shrewsbury. Cold, bright, empty roads.
